Viol2t has definitely been made the GOAT again after this year. Also I'd argue it's 3 different eras (GOATs, Role Lock, & OW2/OWCS) that he's won majors in, and he's had success his entire career throughout every other era on so many different heroes too, Moira, Zen, Bap, Kiri, Brig, Lucio, Illari, and Cat, being arguably the greatest of all time on Zen, Illari, and Cat.
Even if he didn't win anything from 2021-2025, it's not like he wasn't still having results a majority of T1 players have never achieved, getting 4th in 2021 Playoffs and 2022 Kickoff Clash as well as 2nd in 5 back to back LAN tournaments in OWL after his role swap (2022: Midseason Madness, Summer Showdown, Playoffs & 2023: Midseason Madness, Playoffs) and even if his Pre-2026 OWCS career was pretty disappointing he still placed Top 3 in every tournament he was in (before vision we don't talk about that) and has continued that streak.
But no other player has won Tier 1 tournaments 7 years apart, Shu gets close winning in 2020 on Guangzhou & in 2026 on ZETA, LIP we could count too but he's been bench riding this season, although did get 2nd at bootcamp. The only other players from those first 2 seasons of OWL that are still having success today are Shu, Kellex, Guxue, and FunnyAstro (who barely played if at all in Season 2). While all of these players are all time greats, they all are only great on a select few heroes, and on only older heroes unlike Viol2t who has such a large hero pool and I think is undisputedly the best on 2 newer heroes, Illari and Cat. Viol2t is also one of the few Main Supports to have real carry potential, Kellex and Fastro are both great, but they do not have the same presence in the lobby as Viol2t. Additionally, Viol2t is the only one of those players to win a major tournament in their rookie years, winning Stage 2 & OWL Playoffs, and one of few players to have won 2 end of year titles, an one of even fewer to win back to back
TLDR: Viol2t is the GOAT and always was
Although talking about Vision, I thought after seeing him in EMEA Masters just a year ago, his career was essentially over, but he has proved that so incredibly wrong in 2026, winning Back to Back Korea stages, an Asia stage, and the biggest tournament of the year.
