Now I don't want to sound like a glazer but too many people dog on japan as a boring minor league for no good reason, but everyone needs to respect what japan does for the game and tap in because japan especially this stage has been super interesting!
Not only has japan filled out with talent migrating from korea (which has made them way more competitive and interesting with names the masses actually might know) but japan has basically become Korea T2, WHICH IS A GOOD THING. This offers more pathways for korean players to reach T1, it builds prospects up (k4ne, azent), and it creates an environment where it isn't owcs or nothing for grinding korean players. Dudes beg for a competent T2 in their esport but when they get a 99% match but also have japanese fans and players involved this is somehow a problem lol?
Back to my first point past just the influx of better players making the league itself better but ever since the league has started to improve and the increased competition Japan overwatch and especially Varrel have significantly improved to where they are on the level of NA and EMEA teams. I mean look at the japan rosters, I can genuinely easily recognise 2-3 players from each team that are interesting or notable (not even including more "niche" japanese players who are outstanding)
farmer + probe edison + fearless uyou + rlg5656 ky0n + viper + peppi develop lol everyone on varrel
Finally to watch you have Unter who is a passionate informed interesting costreamer who is involved with a good community to watch with. Only problem is that occasionally the japan stream can be slightly scuffed (wdg moment)
