📝 All Gamers: a potential dark horse

As the second seed in a weaker region, All Gamers sit at the bottom of many fans’ tier lists going into the Champions Clash. All Gamers joined OWCS China as a new partner team early this year, and since then, their OWCS journey has been defined by their rivalry with JD Gaming, as they fought for the title of China's second-best team.

Although All Gamers includes several veteran players, some of whom have played together in the past, the team’s mixed roster took a little while to gel at the start of Stage 1. AG’s record against JDG tells the story of their growth as a team: they lost 0-3 to JDG in the first week of Stage 1, but then won a five-map series against them two weeks later. Finally, AG soundly outpaced JDG in the Cat/Bastion meta, defeating them twice in the playoffs.

Notably, All Gamers have tried some wilder tactics and team comps compared to the other top teams in China. Chen “Lengsa” Jingyi was playing Jetpack Cat on Control maps weeks before Cat/Bastion became meta, and the team have occasionally pulled out a rush comp featuring Kim “Mag” Tae-sung on Reinhardt, leading to a memorable Swiss Stage moment in which Mag Shattered three JDG players on Gibraltar. (Yes, they were playing Rein rush on the famously dive-oriented Gibraltar.)

Previously, All Gamers rotated between tanks Jia “LiGe” Chengjie and Mag, but in the current Cat/Bastion meta, they more often put LiGe in to play Mauga. Lee “Ezhan” Ji-han has been relegated to Bastion duty, while Tracer specialist Hua “Alphari” Yankai tends to start over Song “Insane” Chunhui. Throughout the OWCS China playoffs, AG took two maps off China’s best team, Weibo Gaming, while running the Cat/Bastion setup.

It remains to be seen whether AG’s victories over JDG and map wins over Weibo Gaming can translate to results on the international stage. Unless All Gamers somehow achieve one of the most monumental upsets in Overwatch esports history, their Champions Clash bracket will certainly begin with a loss. AG’s first opponent is Twisted Minds, EMEA’s top seed and the reigning world champions.

After that opening match, however, All Gamers have the potential to find success in the losers’ bracket. In the organisation’s first international tournament, without the high expectations of fellow Chinese team Weibo Gaming, All Gamers have nothing to lose—and everything to gain.
