📝 Crazy Raccoon vs. Team Falcons Full Match Recap

by Garbis 'Vanskus' Vizoian

The final match of Day 4 delivered the kind of heavyweight clash normally reserved for a grand final. Korea’s two strongest teams, Crazy Raccoon and Team Falcons, both toppled by EMEA’s elite and forced into an elimination showdown far earlier than anyone expected. Only one could remain in contention; the other would see their world championship hopes end here.

Even Falcons flex-DPS, Kim “Proper” Dong-hyun, admitted the surreal nature of the situation before the match. "I really didn't expect to meet Crazy Raccoon in the lower bracket,” he said. “But even if they win against us, they will probably lose to an EMEA team anyway, so it's better for us to move on to the finals."

What followed was a five-map thriller, momentum swings, Hail Mary gambits, and clutch individual moments, culminating in one of the most dramatic comebacks of the tournament.

Map 1: Busan (Crazy Raccoon pick), Crazy Raccoon ban Zarya, Team Falcons ban Ana

Crazy Raccoon opened their map pick looking fully in control. In Downtown, Park “JunBin” Jun-bin’s Ramattra and Chae “HeeSang” Heesang’s Echo set an immediate pace, capitalising on an early pick onto Choi “Hanbin” Han-been to secure first cap. Falcons’ response was unconvincing; their D.Va-centric defence never found footing, and CR closed the round cleanly.

MEKA Base offered a closer contest, with Choi “MER1T” Tae-min swapping to Sojourn and Proper to Symmetra to contest the mirrors. But even with the Falcons trading blow for blow, Crazy Raccoon’s coordination proved tighter. The Ramattra composition simply out-muscled the D.Va, and CR walked away with a confident 1-0 series lead.

Map 2: New Junk City (Team Falcons pick), Falcons ban Kiriko, Crazy Raccoon ban Tracer

Falcons’ counterpick brought chaos from the start. Hanbin rolled out on Mauga, Proper on Reaper, and a Juno/Wuyang support line. The composition instantly collapsed. Crazy Raccoon’s surprising adjustment was even more intriguing: An “SP1NT” Woo-jin, subbing in to play Venture alongside Lee “LIP” Jae-won’s Sojourn and Choi “MAX” Su-min’s Zarya.

CR captured Point A effortlessly, but once Falcons made the emergency switch to Zarya/Genji, the tempo shifted. Proper exploded into form, carving through Crazy Raccoon with a massive Dragonblade. A well-timed pick onto SP1NT mid-Tectonic Shock sealed CR’s inability to contest Point C.

The rest of the map was equally one-sided. Kim “shu” Jin-seo’s impact was blunted, SP1NT’s inexperience showed, and despite a few stabilising moments, like CH0R0NG’s Nano-boosted trades, Falcons powered through to even the series 1-1.

Map 3: Dorado (Crazy Raccoon pick), Crazy Raccoon ban D.Va, Team Falcons ban Wuyang

Dorado brought substitutions across both teams, with Ham “SOMEONE” Jeong-wan stepping in for Falcons and Junbin returning for Crazy Raccoon. Falcons began on Winston/Echo, while CR mirrored, except for LIP opting for Tracer and shu on Ana.

Crazy Raccoon’s early attack stalled completely. After two minutes of fruitless pressure, LIP swapped to Cassidy, and finally CR capped the first point with Junbin spearheading the aggression. Their progress toward the second point was incremental, but they were ultimately stuffed at 81m by Falcons’ relentless poke.

Falcons’ own attack was far more decisive. LIP, back on Ashe, couldn’t keep pace with Proper’s Reaper, who shredded Crazy Raccoon’s backline at will. A handful of clean fights later, Falcons marched through the map and claimed the series lead, 2-1.

Map 4: New Queen Street (Crazy Raccoon pick), Crazy Raccoon ban Cassidy, Team Falcons ban Wrecking Ball

With their backs to the wall, Crazy Raccoon took New Queen Street and produced one of their cleanest performances of the match. Team Falcons debuted a highly unorthodox lineup with MER1T on Symmetra and Proper on Sojourn, but the experiment flopped immediately. Crazy Raccoon punished heard, racing ahead by over 80 metres.

Falcons’ switches, with Proper to Echo and MER1T back on hitscan, weren’t enough. LIP sniped Han “ChiYo” Hyeon-seok out of the fight, HeeSang won the Ramattra Duplicate duel, and Crazy Raccoon rolled the bot all the way to full completion. 2-2.

Both teams' fans stuck through till the very end.
The crowd were buzzing and the atmosphere was palpable.

Map 5: King’s Row (Team Falcons pick), Team Falcons ban Ramattra, Crazy Raccoon ban Lucio

Falcons picked King’s Row and Crazy Raccoon brought in MAX for their final composition shuffle. CR opened with a Sigma hold, an idea that quickly unraveled. Hanbin’s Zarya carved through their defences, Proper’s Venture tore into their backline, Falcons stormed through two points with momentum to spare.

Falcons’ final push is scrappy. Proper sets up a Death Blossom, which was highly telegraphed, but it still costs Crazy Raccoon their ult economy to put a stop to it. This lets Falcons slowly continue their push all the way to the end, bar a few metres from the finish line. MER1T places himself perfectly in CR’s flank, and Falcons almost manage to wipe CR for the full cap. However, a Blizzard from HeeSang’s Mei, and MAX’s quick-switch to D.Va is miraculous as Crazy Raccoon manage to touch the point and deny Falcons the third and final point.

Crazy Raccoon’s counter-push was a masterclass. They push through the first two points, costing the Falcons a heavy toll in ultimates, but MAX and LIP are unfazed with their own Grav and B.O.B. They take the points and are on their way towards a final push for the ages.

Their initial attempts fall short, and just as it seemed that Crazy Raccoon’s momentum was about to falter and Falcons had done it, HeeSang struck.

A critical early pick on his flex-DPS counterpart, Proper, opens the door for the rest of the Raccoons to collapse on Hanbin for the kill, and Crazy Raccoon rush in towards the finish line as an unstoppable wave. One final attempt from Proper’s Venture to touch the payload is thwarted with LIP’s coachgun, and the deed is done.

Crazy Raccoon pull off the impossible. They come back from 2-1 to finish out the series.

Post-match, Shu addressed one of the most unexpected talking points of the night. “Fans really wanted to know about the King’s Row Kiriko,” he laughed. “We had our doubts, but if I didn’t pull this out, there weren’t many ways to break Falcons’ defence. It was a gamble—and it worked perfectly.”

Crazy Raccoon will face off against the loser of the winner’s bracket finals, between Al Qadsiah and Twisted Minds.
