📝 Farway retires from competitive Overwatch
After nine years as a professional player, Cao "Farway" Jiale has announced his retirement from Overwatch. The veteran will stay with Team CC in a yet undisclosed role.

A man of many different gamertags, Farway found early success in 2017 on LGD Gaming in the early-growing Chinese region, before ultimately finding a home on the academy team of the Shanghai Dragons: Team CC.
After helping that team dominate Chinese contenders, he was eventually picked up by the Chengdu Hunters in the 2021 season. Farway eventually found his home on the Guangzhou Charge in 2022, where he played the remainder of his Overwatch League career.
When the game servers went dark in China, Farway found his final home on the orgless-Team CC and began playing in various fan circuits before official competition returned in 2025. Since joining the current iteration of Team CC, Farway has helped the team reach all three international LANs this season and secure three consecutive second-place finishes in the Overwatch Champions Series China.
It’s still uncertain how Farway’s retirement will shape Team CC’s lineup for 2026, but the Chinese runner-ups will be on the lookout for their next flex support for a successful campaign come the new competitive season.
