Introducing the OWTV Patreon

Xavier Hardy

I’m happy to introduce the OWTV Patreon page to support the website and our staff's efforts. We’re a community-run project, supported by volunteers, with the operational costs we run into funded predominantly by myself.

While we are exploring other ways to monetise to support our staff better and cover our running costs, we’ve had multiple people reach out asking if there is a way to support us directly. This will be the purpose of this page, we’ll provide the following options:

Tier:

  • Basic Supporter - £3
    • Custom Discord role
  • Supporter - £6
    • Custom Discord role
    • Access to unused interview footage
  • Premium Supporter- £9
    • Custom Discord role
    • Access to unused interview footage
    • Special thanks in the credits to any of our longer project videos
  • Mega Supporter - £20
    • Custom Discord role
    • Access to unused interview footage
    • Special thanks in the credits to any of our longer project videos

What content will be on Patreon?

Many Patreon pages will put part of the content behind a paywall or a certain tier of access. While this is good to encourage people to sign up to Patreon, I don’t believe it fits our ethos to put parts of our content, like the weekly interviews with players or highlights packages, behind paywalls. Similarly, due to our already tight release schedule, early releases or access would also be difficult for us to provide regularly. For these reasons, none of our regular week-to-week content will ever sit behind a pay wall.

While I want to be transparent that there are no plans to have regular Patreon-exclusive content, we do want to reward our supporters where we can. This will come in the form of our longer projects, like the incredible “Is the Gap Closing Between the West and Korea?” video that niice produced for us last year. For these projects, we film quite a lot of interview footage, then cherry-pick the best and most relevant moments for the video, meaning quite a lot of footage remains unused. So we’ll be releasing the full interviews exclusively on Patreon and will do this for all future projects of this nature, too.

How will the money be used?

Personally, I’m not taking any money or profit from OWTV; the money will be reinvested into the site and the volunteers that make it all possible. This will come in the form of some smaller maintenance costs (Servers, licences for music and certain programmes that help us run better), as well as funding our attendance at major events, with the long-term goal of allowing us to reward the hard-working volunteers that make this all possible.

We started our live coverage of LAN events in Stockholm, providing live interviews and photography from the event. Our goal is to continue this coverage throughout 2026, as you may have seen with our coverage from the Bootcamp tournament in Korea. The funds will be used to help support travel, accommodation, and expenses during the event, allowing us to continue bringing this extra coverage from live events.

Alongside the launch of the page, we have released the first of the full interviews from the "Is the Gap Closing?" video featuring Junkbuck, Mobydik, Moon, and Ninek. It's over 50 minutes with some of Korea's greatest coaches. You can watch the full video here with a membership or purchase it as a one-off.

Thank you to everyone who supports us. It means a lot and makes the effort all the more worthwhile. Both those who are able to support us on Patreon and those who simply use the website and watch the videos, it all helps.
