OWTV Community Awards

by Xavier "CommanderX" Hardy

We are excited to introduce our first community awards for the best players from the 2025 OWCS Season.

The OWTV Community Awards are open to the public for voting and allow anyone to submit their selections. Voting is open now and will close at 23:59 GMT on Dec. 18. Any submissions after this time will not be counted.

We have categories available for all OWCS regions as well as an overall category for the best players of the year in each role, including the overall best player of 2025.

The major regions (EMEA, Korea, and NA) have individual voting for Tank, Flex DPS, Hitscan, Flex Support and Main Support. While China has a top-3 selection, Japan and the Pacific have a single award for the best-performing player in that region.

None of the categories are mandatory, so you are free to leave them blank if you haven't watched the respective region or don't want to vote for certain awards.

FAQs:

How were the shortlists for each category determined?

Players' placement within regional and major competitions was the most significant contributing factor. For the regional awards, this was based on the regional playoffs. For the overall player of the year awards, it was based on performances and placements at major events, while still trying to provide regional representation where it felt deserved.

This is why, in the overall awards section, Geekay players (NTMR at the time) represent NA more, as they were the highest-placing NA team at an international event in 2025. Some exceptions were made in cases of particularly strong individual performances; for example, xzodyal in the EMEA awards.

When will the results be announced?

Submissions close at 23:59 GMT on Thursday, Dec. 18, and we'll begin publishing the results starting Saturday, Dec. 20.

[Addendum Saturday, Dec. 20: Voting results will be published on Tuesday, Dec. 23.]

Why do some regions have more categories than others?

We scaled the quantity of regional awards based on their respective seeds at major international competitions throughout the year, giving the major regions (EMEA, KR, and NA) a full role selection. China a Top-3 selection and a single best player for Japan and the Pacific. We felt this scaled appropriately with the average attention given to each region by fans.

Why do you need my username?

You'll be required to sign in to your Google account to complete the form. This data, and your email, will NOT be recorded in any way; this is a preventative measure against multiple submissions or foul play.

We'll use your username to distinguish your submission from others. In the event of any issues or errors with submissions, this will remain confidential among the staff running the awards. As it is only to separate one entry from another, feel free to use an alternative name if you want to remain anonymous during submission.

You should have an 'x' award too.

We wanted to keep our initial iteration fairly concise to ensure we can manage it all. Still, we are very much open to adding and expanding the award categories in future voting.

If you have any suggestions, there is a post in the #community-suggestions channel of our Discord where you can submit and discuss ideas.

Are these going to be yearly or more regular?

We plan to run these awards more regularly to give the community more opportunities to recognise talent and performance within a given stage or tournament.
