📝 Team Falcons vs. Weibo Gaming Full Match Recap

The fourth match of Day 4 at the Stockholm World Finals delivered a storied clash: Team Falcons vs. Weibo Gaming, two rosters who had faced each other twice before, both times pushing the other to a 5-map nail-biter.

Weibo entered the World Finals as China’s first seed after taking down Spacestation Gaming and Team CC, though an opening loss to Al Qadsiah pushed them into the lower bracket. Falcons, meanwhile, arrived as Korea’s second seed, having beaten Team Liquid and VARREL but falling to Twisted Minds earlier in the day. With elimination on the line, both sides threw everything into the series.

Map 1 - Ilios (Team Falcons pick), Team Falcons ban Winston, Weibo Gaming ban Tracer

Ilios opened on Ruins with both teams rolling out on Zarya mirrors featuring Ashe and Kiriko. Falcons opted for Wuyang and Freja, while Weibo chose Lucio and Echo. As the point was about to unlock, Huang “Leave” Xin picked Kim “Proper” Dong-hyun, forcing Team Falcons to reset and giving Weibo the first capture. Proper swapped to Reaper, and Falcons struck back by isolating Xu “guxue” Qiulin, flipping the objective at 24%.

Another pick from Leave, this time onto Han “ChiYo” Hyeon-seok, let Weibo muscle Falcons away at 39%, but Leave was caught overextending. A Kitsune Rush from Fielder, paired with the pick, allowed Falcons to retake control. On Weibo’s regroup, Choi “Hanbin” Han-been landed a three-man Graviton Surge, countered by Li “Mew” Xianyao’s Lucio Beat and a well-timed boop to deny the Tidal Blast follow-up. Weibo attempted to leverage their ultimate advantage, but guxue’s Grav was shut down by Proper’s flank Death Blossom, pushing Falcons past 70% into last fight territory.

Weibo attempted to rotate to point, but Falcons met them early, catching them off guard and closed out the first round.

On Lighthouse, Weibo maintained their comp except for Shy on Freja, while Falcons switched to D.Va, Echo, and Lucio. Weibo claimed first control but were forced out after a 3-2 trade. Their next attempt saw guxue and Mew speeding onto point alone while the rest poked from range, but Team Falcons punished the split, catching both tanks and eventually, a final pick on Zheng “shy” Yangjie.

A forward hold from Falcons, including an early B.O.B. at Weibo’s spawn, forced an even ultimate trade, but a late collapse from Weibo at 80% allowed Falcons to push into spawn and lock out the map. Team Falcons took a 1-0 series lead.

Map 2 - Dorado (Weibo Gaming pick), Weibo Gaming ban D.Va, Team Falcons ban Wuyang

Dorado began with mirror comps on Winston, Tracer, Lucio, Brig, the only difference being the hitscan: Choi “MER1T” Tae-min on Cassidy vs shy on Sojourn. Falcons attempted to displace Weibo’s backline and punish their dive, but shy repeatedly halted their advances with early picks. With two minutes left, Falcons finally broke through, winning a clean fight and nearly capping first, but Weibo reengaged, and while Falcons eventually managed to capture the first point, Weibo forced them to use way more ultimates than they hoped to spend.

However, Team Falcons stabilised on the second point without ultimates and entered one-fight territory. A Lucio Beat push gained no kills until MER1T caught four Weibo players, securing the second point. On the third point, Falcons tried to keep their momentum, but shy’s Overclock stopped them cold. With under three minutes remaining, a Kitsune Rush trade ended 3–3, and both teams reset.

As Falcons pushed again, Hanbin was forced into an early Primal, and Mew’s defensive Beat found no value. ChiYo’s later Beat allowed Falcons to regain cart control as Weibo C9’d, giving Falcons a full map completion with 1:17 in the bank.

Weibo’s attack mirrored their defence. After a minute of poking, Falcons punished guxue and Leave, but the cart had crept dangerously close to the checkpoint. Falcons collapsed again under the bridge, catching guxue with no escape. As Weibo’s time fell under a minute, ChiYo bashed Mew out of Beat, winning the fight and pushing Weibo to desperation territory.

Shy used Overclock to finally break through and cap the first point with seconds remaining. Towards the second point, an early Kitsune Rush gained little ground. Falcons reengaged and traded evenly, but Weibo eventually secured the high ground and burned down Hanbin’s mech. A flurry of ultimates followed, but in the final seconds, Mew and Leave were both caught out, guxue’s Primal bought little time, and Weibo C9’d again, ending the map.

Falcons took Dorado, going up 2-0.

Map 3 - King’s Row (Weibo Gaming pick), Weibo Gaming ban Zarya, Team Falcons ban Brigitte

Falcons attacked first with D.Va, Sojourn, Genji, Kiriko, Lucio, while Weibo fielded Ramattra, Ashe, Venture, Kiriko, Wuyang. Early trades favoured Weibo as Hanbin was picked late. Falcons’ next dive succeeded, but Leave stalled long enough with Tectonic Shock to deny the cap at 89%. Only after a scrappy final fight, with no time remaining, Falcons finally managed to secure the first point.

On point B, Proper swapped to Symmetra and Hanbin to Ramattra. Weibo’s early Kitsune Rush was countered, and a later Annihilation trade went the Falcons’ way thanks to their ultimate advantage. Moving into the final push, Proper switched to Mei. Weibo struck first with shy’s Overclock, but Falcons’ double support ult trade in overtime secured the cap with zero time left.

Weibo’s attack mirrored their defence. Early trades went poorly for them as Falcons collapsed on the staggered push. After multiple Kitsune Rush trades and DPS ults exchanged, Weibo eventually forced overtime and captured the first point, rolling deep into the second point with their momentum. ChiYo’s Beat and Proper’s Duplication slowed them down, but Weibo won the major ultimate trades to push into a tiebreaker round with Falcons having a 1:00 timebank, and Weibo 1:40.

Team Falcons attacked first with Proper on Symmetra and teleported to the high ground. MER1T picked shy just before overtime, giving Falcons the capture window. ChiYo’s early Beat allowed Falcons to claim the first point and begin their push towards the second, with MER1T’s Overlock finishing the next fight. Weibo only managed to stop the Falcons just before the second checkpoint.

Weibo’s final attack mirrored again, but Falcons held firm. After Weibo dumped three ultimates to cap the first point, Falcons stabilised, traded DPS ults, and ultimately, MER1T’s pressure and Hanbin’s Annihilation closed out the final fight.

Team Falcons won the series, eliminating Weibo Gaming and advancing to face Crazy Raccoon in the lower bracket semifinals.
