📝 Team Liquid replace Rupal with Escanor
Team Liquid announced Yasser "Escanor" Alotaibi as an emergency substitute on flex support following Rupal "Rupal" Zaman's termination from the team.
Until his signing to Team Liquid, Escanor was part of the tier 2 team Mewthree, participating in FACEIT League EMEA Master. Escanor and Mewthree most recently finished the league in 3rd place and participated in the OWCS Open Qualifiers. In the Open Qualifiers, Escanor and Mewthree came touchingly close to grabbing a spot in OWCS EMEA, losing to Anyone's Legend right at the finish line.
Escanor will partner up with main support Diego "Vega" Moran on flex support duties. Most notably, Escanor has only played DPS for his previous teams, and there's no telling how he'll perform as flex support.
The unfortunate timing of these developments has put Team Liquid in a bind, and head coach Cas "Casores" van Andel will have his work cut out for him as the OWCS season starts tonight, March 21.
One of the few silver linings is that Team Liquid will only play a single match this weekend against Gorilla's Disciples, and the team has a week afterwards for intense scrims and practice sessions to get the 19-year-old Saudi damage player fit for OWCS flex support duties.
