📝 Weibo Gaming vs. Team CC Full Match Recap
Day three of the World Finals kicked off with an all-Chinese grudge match. Team CC looked to finally dethrone Weibo Gaming as the best China has to offer. The stakes were high, and the lights proved too bright for Team CC, who bowed out after losing 2-0.

Team CC overperformed in their first game of the tournament against T1, even taking a map. It felt like they had something to prove heading into this game to topple the team that has constantly pipped them to first place in their region.
In comparison, Weibo Gaming would have been massively disappointed with their poor showing against Al Qadsiah yesterday, only making Ilios competitive. Weibo seemed confident they could run it back to the China Region Playoffs and beat Team CC, as they had before, but must have had the crushing loss in the back of their minds.

Map 1 Ilios (Weibo Gaming pick), Weibo Gaming ban D.Va, Team CC ban Tracer
Like their match against Al Qadsiah, Weibo decided to take us to Ilios for the first map as it favours the Winston dive. Weibo played the same heroes for the entire map, with Xu “guxue” Qiulin on Winston, Zheng “shy” Yangjie on Ashe, Huang “Leave” Xin on Echo, Zhou “Mmonk” Xiang on Kiriko and Li “Mew” Xianyao on Wuyang: a composition we saw them thrive on in the playoffs.
As for Team CC, we saw a more common set of heroes for the tournament, with Chen “BILIDENG” Cheng on Zarya, Li “Pineapple” Zhuo on Ashe, Liu “Kaneki” Nian on Echo, Cao “Farway2025” Jiale on Kiriko and Wu “Haoyoqian” Gengtuo, formerly known as Superich on Lucio.

The match started on Ruins, with Weibo putting on a dominant performance. With immediate point pressure, Weibo snagged the objective just before Shy opened up his account with a pick onto Pineapple. Kaneki traded for Leave in the opening exchange; however, the pressure from guxue proved too much, and Weibo netted the first fight win.
The rest of the point saw an onslaught of first picks for the Chinese champions, mounting pressure with good ultimate trades and positional advantages.
In the final fight of Ruins, Shy inexplicably managed to pluck the opposing Lucio out of the air to open the floodgates for Weibo. Guxue immediately dived into Team CC with Primal Rage in his pocket and took out two, with Leave cleaning up.
Round one decisively falls to Weibo 100-0.
A closer affair followed on Well, with Team CC deciding to swap Ashe for Freja.
Weibo took the first flip once again, and a prolonged fight ensued. Guxue opened the round with an elimination onto Kaneki, and Leave quickly matched his tank by taking out Superich. In the following retreat, Team CC managed to turn it around with two quick kills and, with their spawn advantage, overwhelmed Weibo to flip the point.
Guxue was greeted in his next dive by Kaneki’s Echo with all cooldowns and was taken out almost as soon as he touched the ground. The fight dissolved after this pick, and Team CC maintained control of the point.
BILIDENG was pressured with a Kitsune Rush in his face, but used Graviton Surge to eliminate Weibo’s Kiriko and Echo.
To finish the map, Team CC expertly took the tempo and used their ultimates to find kills before Weibo could stage for a dive. This meant Weibo didn’t use either of their DPS ultimates and rewarded Team CC round two.
The final control point, Lighthouse, was extremely back-and-forth. Team CC took the point first after both teams lost two in the opening exchange.
Weibo displayed their overwhelming dive throughout the point, with Leave coming alive on Echo. He even found a triple kill after copying Zarya and building to Graviton Surge. Just as well as in the same fight, Superich comically booped guxue in Primal Rage off the map.
In the final fight, guxue superbly used Primal Rage to juggle the opposing Zarya off the point, displacing and eliminating BILIDENG and clutching a tight 3v3.
The final score of Ilios would be 2-1, with a tight but not surprising win for Weibo Gaming.
Map 2 Shambali Monastery (Team CC Pick), Team CC ban Sojourn, Weibo Gaming ban Zarya
Weibo Gaming attacked first, playing Freja, Venture, Ramattra, Kiriko and Lucio, a composition we saw them beat Team CC on in the finals of the China Region Playoffs.
Team CC opted to play Symmetra, Cassidy, D.Va, Kiriko and Lucio, a composition that can work well if played with cohesion and good communication. It became clear during the first fight that Team CC should let other teams stick to Symmetra.
Weibo’s attack was extremely convincing. They chose to flip the map on both first and second points, making Team CC have to walk into them to contest the payload. This paid huge dividends with a failed teleporter play, allowing Weibo to eliminate two and capture first point off the back of a single fight win.
During the second point, Team CC caught out Shy on Freja, with Weibo still committing Sound Barrier to the 4v5, to which Superich matched with a beat of his own. Team CC then had their only good Teleporter play of the map, with Pineapple using it in conjunction with High Noon to win Team CC the fight.
The second point fell similarly to the first, with Weibo flipping the map, and this time CC were completely zoned from touching the payload with Leave’s Tectonic Shock.
A disastrous defence only got worse on the third point as Mew used Rally to shield-bash Pineapple out of High Noon, setting his team up for the elimination. Guxue took the overhealth and also used Annihilation, pressuring Team CC to give up all the space for Leave to have a field day in the backline, which allowed Weibo to full cap.

The rest of the game would demonstrate Weibo as the far more coordinated team from the China Region. Team CC had some flashy moments but couldn’t withstand the aggressive, fast-paced nature of their opposition. Mew especially set his team up for victory with constant inspire uptime and quick ultimate charge times.
The deciding fight was won by a brilliant flank from Shy on Freja, taking out two in the backline and allowing his team to clean up the rest.
Team Weibo looked like a completely different team in their game today, with decisive, quick dives and cohesive teamplay, albeit against weaker opposition than Al Qadsiah. In his post-match interview, guxue identified Shambali as their worst map from their last game:
"The main problem from yesterday was the 2nd map. We had some chaotic communication. We did a lot of reviews, we did our homework, and I think that's what led to our success."
Guxue also apologised to Team CC, saying, "I feel sorry for kicking you [Team CC] out. Sorry for that."
Weibo Gaming prove themself once more as the titans of Chinese Overwatch, and look finally to get a win against a team from a different region with their eyes set on Spacestation Gaming in round two of the lower bracket.
