Ordering an old classic: Cheeseburger announce roster for OWCS Stage 3
With Stage 3 of OWCS Korea still more than a month away, some teams have taken advantage of the international break to rebuild a brand new roster and set themselves up well for one last push. One of those teams is Cheeseburger, who, after finishing Stage 2 in seventh place, have begun rebuilding their roster by bringing in legacy Overwatch Esports talent ahead of the open qualifiers.
Over August 20 and 21, Cheeseburger parted ways with nearly all members of their roster and coaching staff, keeping only support player Heo "TenTen" Ye-jun. The main support started the year with Poker Face, before joining Cheeseburger ahead of Stage 2, and showed promise in a lineup that did not live up to expectations.
Spearheading the final stage of competition for Cheeseburger is former Overwatch League flex-support Jeong "Krillin" Young-hoon. Krillin broke into the Overwatch scene by jumping from Open Division to the then-reigning champions, the 2019 London Spitfire. He would later play for T1 in Contenders before returning to the Overwatch League with the Washington Justice and eventually the Seoul Dynasty. Krillin retired in March 2024 and had yet to join a roster in the new OWCS circuit. Krillin’s signing with Cheeseburger marks his first official position in OWCS and his debut as a coach.
Choi "K4ne" Ju-hyung joins the roster after playing for Poker Face in Stage 2. K4ne has spent the past year bouncing around among many lower-tier teams, having played with MIR Gaming, O2 Blast, and the aforementioned Poker Face. With a new journey on Cheeseburger, this is K4ne’s opportunity to truly make a name for himself and break through into the upper echelons of competition.
Anchoring the team, tank player Hwang "Belosrea" Gyu-tae steps in as Cheeseburger’s lone tank player. This marks Belosrea’s return to OWCS Korea after leaving for ROC Esports for the 2025 season. Belosrea was signed by JD Gaming when they revealed their partner team roster and led the team to a second-place finish in OWCS China and a trip to the Champions Clash in Tokyo. He had a much more limited role on the team in Stage 2, with the meta shifting towards off-tanks, and hopefully his appearance on Cheeseburger will be a “return to form” for the veteran tank.
Rounding out the support line is the most mysterious player on this roster, Trest. Trest is a newcomer to Overwatch Esports, having no confirmed appearances in previous competitions. This ascension into the top flight of Overwatch is his first documented journey in OW Esports. The last time this happened was Bang "JJoNak" Seong-hyun getting signed directly to the Overwatch League from the Korean ranked ladder, so hopefully Trest can live up to that legacy.
With one spot left on the DPS line, Cheeseburger built up the announcement by releasing a teaser video. Simply captioned, “THE LEGEND RETURNS,” the hype video opens with the lines “DO YOU REMEMBER…THE GOAT.” A flurry of highlights flood the screen, revealing the star DPS play of Cheeseburger’s newest player - one of Overwatch Esports' most storied and legendary players - Park "Profit" Joon-yeong.
Profit is rejoining the scene after taking a three-year hiatus for personal reasons. As one of the legends of the sport, Profit has earned many accolades dating back to Overwatch APEX, the Korean Overwatch Circuit, before the creation of the Overwatch League. During Overwatch APEX Season 4, Profit led GC Busan to victory, earning the roster a spot representing Cloud 9 as the London Spitfire.
Profit started his Overwatch League career with a bang, winning Stage 1 against the New York Excelsior, and that dominance only continued. To cap off the 2018 season, Profit became the league’s first-ever Grand Finals MVP after leading the London Spitfire to the first OWL Championship. This achievement also allowed him to become one of the first Overwatch players to become a finalist for the Esports Awards in 2018. Profit would play in every season of the Overwatch League, moving to the Seoul Dynasty in 2020, and becoming the first player to cross 10,000 eliminations that same season.
He last played professionally in the twilight days of the Seoul Dynasty in 2023. With this new Cheeseburger core, Profit is joined by his former Seoul Dynasty teammates Belosrea and coach Krillin, marking a mini-reunion for the old Overwatch League franchise. With this new roster, hopefully Cheeseburger can take a bite out of the competition and leave their mark in OWCS Korea Stage 3.
