With the Conference Cups now in the rear, all 28 teams have been locked in for the Overwatch World Cup 2026 Online Qualifiers. With the event scheduled for late May and concluding on June 7, a lot of preparation is underway for this year’s OWWC.

Group Selection

Each regional Online Qualifier will feature 8 or 12 teams. The Americas and Asia Online Qualifiers will feature two groups of four teams, while the EMEA Online Qualifiers will feature three groups of four teams. The EMEA region was granted additional representatives since KSA, hailing from the EMEA region, won the 2023 World Cup.

A drawing ceremony was held to determine the groups for each of the three main regions. Seeding for individual teams is determined by previous OWWC results.

It’s important to note that Saudi Arabia and China will be exempt from these Online Qualifiers. They will automatically qualify for the OWWC Group Stage live event in South Korea later this August for finishing first and second, respectively, at the 2023 World Cup.

Map pool and tournament format

Across all three regions, the map pool is the following :

  • Control: Ilios, Oasis, and Antarctic Peninsula
  • Hybrid: Hollywood, King’s Row, and Numbani
  • Push: New Queen Street, and Runasapi
  • Flashpoint: New Junk City, and Suravasa
  • Escort: Circuit Royal, Dorado, and Rialto

Similar to the 2026 Pre-Season Bootcamp in the OWCS circuit, first-map choice will be determined by a 1v1 between one player from each competing team. The winner of the 1v1 will then be able to select their preferred Control map first, or can select to ban 1st or 2nd. The loser of the 1v1 then gets the option not selected by the winning team.

  • Example: if the winning team selects Map, the losing team selects 1st or 2nd ban

All map picks in each match will be decided first by the 1v1 on Lijiang Tower, regardless of seeding. Map selection then defaults to the loser of Map 1, and proceeds as normal thereafter.

The tournament will be played on retail patch 22.1, the Season 2 midseason patch. The format for this tournament will be a Single Round Robin, with each game being played in a best-of-5 (first-to-3) format. The top two finishing teams from each group will then qualify for the 16-team Group Stage live event in South Korea alongside Saudi Arabia and China.

The action begins on May 29

The 2026 Overwatch World Cup Online Qualifiers will be split between two weekends, with the first few rounds taking place on May 30 and May 31. The final concluding rounds will take place on June 6 and June 7.

Please note that while matches in EMEA are on a rolling schedule, the Americas are not. If EMEA matches conclude early, the Americas will not begin until the listed time. Should matches in EMEA run late, games in the Americas will not begin until after the final EMEA match has concluded. Matches in Asia will operate independently of both EMEA and the Americas, and matches may overlap.

As always, OWTV will provide updated match scores, review articles, and interviews with teams and players, so stay tuned.
