Team Peps out, Telacy in. Promotion/Relegation recap

The Promotion/Relegation tournaments have concluded, and while nearly every team from Stage 1 defended their spot for Stage 2, one team has made a surprising exit. In the EMEA region, 1234 (aka the former Anyone’s Legend team) will return for competition alongside Telacy, a Tier 2 challenger who defeated Team Peps. In North America, Disguised and Extinction have defended their spots.

After a long and hard-fought season, Telacy and Star Bits x Hypnos rose through the ranks of FACEIT League Master Season 8, ready to challenge the former Anyone’s Legend core and Team Peps in EMEA. Although Star Bits fought hard, they ultimately fell short against the former Anyone’s Legend team and finished fourth after a close 3-2 loss to Telacy.

Telacy, on the other hand, managed to keep each series close, taking a map off of ex-AL and defeating Star Bits 3-2. The biggest surprise of the Promotion/Relegation came in the match against Team Peps, where Telacy swept the French squad 3-0, sending them down to FACEIT Master. ex-AL and Telacy will now prepare to compete in OWCS Stage 2.

In North America, Kintsugi and DhillDucks rose through their region’s FACEIT Master system to challenge Extinction and Disguised. Although they fought hard, the FACEIT teams ultimately fell short to the OWCS teams, who won every map. Disguised and Extinction will both return to OWCS competition, holding onto their slots in the region. 

Star Bits and Team Peps in EMEA, and Kintsugi and DhillDucks will head to FACEIT League Master Season 9, where they will need to play a full season to prepare for the Stage 2 Promotion/Relegation tournament in August. 

Team Peps became the first-ever OWCS Partner Team to be relegated to the FACEIT League. It is currently unclear as to whether the organisation will sponsor a team in EMEA Stage 2, so please stay tuned to official channels for more information. 

In both EMEA and North America, teams will return to competition ready to battle for a spot in the Midseason Championship in Paris. With the roster signing window now officially upon us, please stay tuned to OWTV to hear more from players, staff, and news surrounding team acquisitions heading into Stage 2.
