ZETA DIVISION sign Twilight as assistant coach
On the eve of OWCS Korea’s playoffs, ZETA DIVISION announced a new assistant coach: Lee "Twilight" Joo-seok.
Twilight is a storied figure in the Overwatch Esports community, with his career dating back to 2016 with the legendary BK Stars team, playing alongside Shin “BERNAR’ Se-won - whom he now coaches - Lee “Carpe” Jae-hyeok, and the late Kim “Alarm” Kyeong-bo. Twilight broke out in 2018 as the star flex support for Runaway, and this roster was acquired by the Vancouver Titans when they entered the Overwatch League as an expansion franchise in 2019. This roster would be incredibly successful, finishing with their best record at 25-3, winning Stage 1 and coming second to the San Francisco Shock in the grand finals.
After spending two years in Vancouver, Twilight would be signed by the San Francisco Shock to form a superstar backline with Park "Viol2t" Min-ki as his flex support partner. Viol2t is now the flex support of ZETA, with whom Twilight will be reunited for the first time since San Francisco. This backline propelled Shock to their second OWL championship in 2020, and brought them victories in the May Melee and Countdown Cup. After finishing 4th in 2021, Twilight would move to the Toronto Defiant in 2022, and later to the Boston Uprising in 2023, where he saw less success overall but still played at a very high level.
His OWCS career was short. He took a step back temporarily for the 2024 season before joining the Ultimates to play in EMEA in 2025. After finishing third in Stage 1 and fourth in Stage 2, the Ultimates disbanded before Stage 3, and Twilight did not make another appearance in the scene until now.
Twilight's longevity and high level of success are proof of his game knowledge and ability. This will be his first official coaching position, and he will help round out a small coaching staff of head coach Park "Crusty" Dae-hee - who coached him back in San Francisco - and assistant coach Kim "GgulTaek" Jeong-youn.
ZETA DIVISION is currently the third seed in OWCS Korea, meaning they will start the playoffs against sixth-seed O2 Blast, who were swept by ZETA in Week 2 of the Regular Season. This first round is win-or-go-home, and ZETA needs a win if they want a chance at making the Midseason Championship. On top of that, they will have to face either Crazy Raccoon or T1 in the Semifinals, so they will need to work hard this week if they want a chance of defending their spot as the reigning champions of Korea.
