2026 Overwatch World Cup groups revealed ahead of Busan Group Stage
A month ago, the final list of all 16 teams for the 2026 Overwatch World Cup Group Stage was confirmed, and today we learned the four groups. On Tuesday, July 14, the OWEsports social media channels hosted a livestream showing the group-stage seeding and processes, firmly locking in the final shape of the OWWC Group Stage in Busan.
The four groups, consisting of the 14 teams who qualified via online qualifiers as well as the silver and gold medal finishers from the 2023 OWWC, have been decided as follows:
- Group A
- China
- United States
- Sweden
- Japan
- Group B
- Saudi Arabia
- Australia
- Mexico
- Great Britain
- Group C
- Canada
- Germany
- Thailand
- Spain
- Group D
- France
- South Korea
- Denmark
- Colombia
Seeding for the above groups was determined by comparing previous performances in the 2023 OWWC and the 2026 Online Qualifiers. China and Saudi Arabia, the two finalists from the previous circuit, were selected first, followed by the No. 1 seeds from each qualifying regional group, and completed by the No. 2 seeds from each group. A maximum of two teams per conference were placed in each group. Teams were not seeded with other nations from their qualifying group.
Similar to the online portion, the Group Stage Match Procedure Priority will be determined by a 1v1 prior to the start of the match. This means that the country whose representative wins the duel will then be awarded the first map pick.
The group selection also comes after it was recently announced that the Group Stage would be adding another day of competition. The 2026 Overwatch World Cup - Group Stage will now begin on August 20 and conclude on August 23 in Busan, South Korea.
